AutoHARP Update Version 1.0.2

An Update for Version 1.0.2 is now available on RPGNow and SourceForge. Both the Databases and the application have had significant updates. Here is the change log from version 1.0.1 to 1.0.2
  • I have updated the database to eliminate the need for base xml files. (the files such as combat.xml, cultures.xml, skills.xml and so on). These files defined where to find the data for a particular book. All such information has been consolidated into a new file called Config.xml. This file is where AutoHARP goes to find path information. There is a Config.xml file for each database. Therefore the Config.xml under Harp Fantasy and the Config.xml under Harp Sci-Fi are two different files which control their own database respectively.
  • A new front end to edit Config.xml is now included in AutoHARP under the Tools menu called Attach Books.
  • AutoHARP will now prompt the user to install a book if the book has not been installed yet. Installation of book happens in the Config.xml now. Having this Config.xml can be handy if you have created many custom files. You can back up this one file when you update and replace it when updating is complete. Again updates do not affect any new files you created.
  • BMR information under the Races file in the Harp Fantasy book have been updated to their correct values.
  • Bronze pieces have been removed from the Harp Fantasy book.
  • You can now define random money for default starting money in your preferences file. For example, instead of the default value of 15, you can now define 1D20.
  • Book information has been removed from the preferences file. It is no longer necessary as the Config file now holds this information.
  • Player actions were spent in the Combat Tracker if they received a critical. This has been fixed so the player's actions are not spent until they actually act.
  • Actions that take longer than a round were not getting carried over to the next round. They now carry over and decrement correctly.
  • Active Spell View in the Combat Tracker is no longer crashing if you select the Scaling spell or tier
  • Looking up a fumble when using the Psi Dialog under Combat Tracker now works
  • You can now scroll through the criticals when using the Combat Tracker for Sci-Fi.
  • The correct number of rounds for the spell (based only on the PPs shown) now displays correctly. I have also included an update that refreshes this label after casting as more information was collected. I am looking into having this value be there without having to first cast.
  • In the Spell Dialog and Maneuver dialog the Critical Data button was not working. However this is due to not having a fumble chart available. Unless you are rolling a fumble for these windows, there is nothing to display. I have added an error to tell users this.
  • Actions were expiring one round too soon if they were 2 rounds or more. This has been resolved.
  • Have added all the fumble charts to the Critical combo box under the Attack dialog so the player can select a particular fumble chart. Now players can roll off any fumble chart, not just the combat fumble chart.
  • Weight now displays two decimal points
  • Armor by the piece was dropping decimal points if the DB was set to a value containing a decimal point. For example if a piece of armor was set to 2.5, the DB would calculate this as 2, not 2.5.
  • Added a field under the Statistics tab so that a user can add a bonus to the character's BMR
  • Ubuntu Support now available

You can go to Iron Crown.com to ask questions or you can post them to the discussion board on the SourceForge website.

AutoHARP is supported under Windows XP/7/8 and Ubuntu. Sorry but I cannot support customization to the databases. I only support the databases as they are packaged at RPGNow.

Up Next

Time to focus on the Harp Sci-Fi side of things which include the expansion rules from Sci-Fi Xtreme. Will work on Cyradon as a database and College of Magics as a book when they become available. I will also tighten up some code to help with error messages. Expansion to include front end to help edit your preferences file. For course any bug fixes found along the way. Enhancement requests are always welcome.
